Sports Ambassadors

 

Longfleet now has a new set of Year 5 Sports Ambassadors. These children complete a range of tasks in their new position, including: getting equipment ready for Fit Friday activities, cleaning the sports cupboards, helping out children during Fit Friday and creating play-leader games for Year 1 and Reception children. All of the Sports Ambassadors had to apply for the position and we had over 45 applicants overall.

March 1st - R/KS1 Howieson Cup Cross Country

(Postponed - new date 22nd March)

March 12th - Year 3/4 Multiskills Festival (Carter Community)

March 19th - Year 1/2 Multiskills Festival (Carter Community)

March 21st - Year 6 Poole Swimming Gala (Rossmore)

March 27th - Year 4/5/6 Canford Magna Cross Country

PE Curriculum Spring 2:

Each unit incorporates the School Values of kindness, aspiration and resilience.

 

Reception: Co-operation and teamwork games

Year 1: Netball

Basic ball skills, making space, passing and moving, aiming

Year 2: Multi-skills

Year 3: Netball

Defending, simple tactics and rules, attacking space and passing skills

Year 4: Swimming (12 weeks)

Water safety, front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and corresponding leg kicks, team games.

Year 5: Hockey

Stick and ball basics, tactics to score, pass choices, officiating, shooting and dribbling skills

Year 6: Volleyball

Dig, serve, simple tactics and making choices.

 

At the end of each unit, House "tournaments" are played in which the children get a chance to showcase their skills in the sport they have learnt that term.

Both clubs are friendly, youth-orientated clubs.

 

Cricket - Poole Town Cricket Club

Teams from U8-U15. Also undertake the ALLStars Cricket initiative for Under 8s to get involved in the game.
