Sports Ambassadors

 

Longfleet now has a new set of Year 5 Sports Ambassadors. These children complete a range of tasks in their new position, including: getting equipment ready for Fit Friday activities, cleaning the sports cupboards, helping out children during Fit Friday and creating play-leader games for Year 1 and Reception children. All of the Sports Ambassadors had to apply for the position and we had over 45 applicants overall.

PE Curriculum Spring 2:

Each unit incorporates the School Values of kindness, aspiration and resilience.

 

Reception: Co-operation and teamwork games

Year 1: Tennis

Basic ball skills, racket control, aiming.

Year 2: Tennis

Basic ball skills, racket control, forehand shot, aiming.

Year 3: Tennis

Forehand, ball control, aiming at space, 

Year 4: Tennis

Forehand and backhand, aiming at space, tactics, defensive shots

Year 5: Golf

Putting, chipping, course design, knowledge of terms.

Year 6: Volleyball

Dig, serve, simple tactics and making choices.

 

At the end of each unit, House "tournaments" are played in which the children get a chance to showcase their skills in the sport they have learnt that term.

Cricket - Poole Town Cricket Club

Teams from U8-U15. Also undertake the ALLStars Cricket initiative for Under 8s to get involved in the game.
