    Poole 7-a-side Tournament

On Thursday 5th October, the Longfleet Lions (our Y6 Boys' football team) took part in a 7-a-side tournament hosted by Baden-Powell St. Peter's Junior School. The event featured 10 Poole schools all trying to qualify for the four places in the Poole Regional Final.

The group games started well with a 2-0 win over Hamworthy  Junior with goals from Remi and Brodie followed up with a 1-0 victory against Talbot Primary with a second from Remi. They lost their next game 1-0 to Haymoor Junior but a 0-0 draw in the final game against Canford Heath Junior was enough to win the group and qualify for the final.

In the final, they played Oakdale Junior and drew 0-0, sharing the title of joint-winners for the afternoon. The team are looking forward to playing in the Poole Regional Final after half-term. Well done to all of the players and thanks to to the spectators for supporting the team.

  • New Barn - Day 1

    Thu 13 Jul 2023

An amazing first day has been had. The year split into two groups with one group building shelters as their first teamwork challenge. A well-deserved lunch followed this.  After lunch, the group tried its hand at trying to make fire. They were shown three different ways to try and make fire. One was using a bow system, another was with a pump drill and the other was using a rolling technique. The other group had their history day. They learnt about medicines, saw some weapons and made a chalk carving. We then returned to the houses and had a bit of a rest and an unpack. Then dinner time! The children tucked into their BBQ food before settling down for a wonderful story from the amazing storyteller Lizzy! The children are all tucked up in bed getting (hopefully) a good night’s sleep before another busy day tomorrow.

  • Year 2 Football Festival

    Thu 19 Jan 2023

Longfleet hosted a football festival, with five other schools invited: Bishop Aldhelm's, Lilliput, St Joseph's, Talbot and Springdale. The fixtures were a round robin of games, with respect, enthusiasm and fun the key themes of the day. Thank you to all of the parents who came to support and the adults for bringing their children. Well done to Mr Mace for managing the Longfleet side and enthusing the children throughout. Another festival looks likely in the near future.

  • Lionesses at Dorset Finals

    Sun 15 Jan 2023

Our Year 5/6 Lionesses competed superbly at the Dorset Finals, held at Littledown Leisure Centre, finishing 3rd overall in the whole of Dorset. In the group stage, wins against Spetisbury (4-0), Highcliffe (1-0) and St Ives (1-0) ensured we had a place in the semi-finals. The final group stage game was against eventual winners St Walburga's, who beat Longfleet 2-0. This put us against St Michael's, who managed to also beat Longfleet 2-0, albeit with a very strong wind helping them along! A third place play-off against Kingsleigh resulted in a 3-1 for Longfleet, with Poppy G scoring two and assisting one.

More matches are scheduled for the League Cup against Baden Powell and Broadstone in the near future.

  • Anti-Bullying Week 2022

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

Next week is National Anti-Bullying week, or as we prefer to call it at Longfleet, Kindness Week.  The theme this year is ‘Reach Out’.  Throughout the week we will be talking about how and to whom we can reach out if we feel we are being bullied or we feel worried or sad or lonely.  We will also consider how we can reach out to others if we see somebody who needs help. Reaching out to others will include participating in acts of kindness and activities that promote the school value of kindness.
We would love to hear about or receive photos of any acts of kindness that happen within the home, extended family or wider community.  Kindly email your child’s year group team if you would like to share.
To kick-start Kindness Week we invite all adults and children to wear odd socks on Monday 14th November to promote diversity and celebrate difference.  We are all unique!

If you would like further information regarding Anti-Bullying Week and the Anti-Bullying Alliance please Click Here.

‘We all have a responsibility to help each other reach out. Together, let’s be the change we want to see. Reflect on our own behaviour, set positive examples and create kinder communities. (ABA)

  • SEND Panathlon

    Fri 14 Oct 2022

Longfleet hosted the annual SEND Panathlon, in which children with SEND from around the area got to take part in sports and activities catered to their needs. Sports such as curling, boccia and target ball were in evidence as each team tried to score as many points as possible. Each child from the event came away with a medal, and our own Year 5 Sports Ambassadors did the school proud by being excellent leaders and scorekeepers. We look forward to our next SEND event, a ten-pin bowling extravaganza in December!

  • Lionesses Unbeaten!

    Thu 13 Oct 2022

Our Year 5/6 Lionesses team stayed unbeaten in the Poole Schools Tournament held at Baden Powell Junior School, winning all 5 games in the process. Eighteen goals across five games, whilst only conceding one, ensured that Longfleet went on to the next stage of the competition. Highlights of the matches included eleven goals by Poppy and a first Lionesses goal for Polly.

  • Year 3/4 Football Festival

    Sun 02 Oct 2022

Longfleet took two teams (Year 3 and Year 4) to Cornerstone Academy for a football festival involving a range of teams from the Poole area. Although not deemed competitive (!), Longfleet Y3 and Longfleet Y4 topped their groups, going unbeaten throughout. They eventually met in the Group “final”, where a 1-1 draw concluded an excellent festival, which was only hampered by a prolonged downpour. Highlights included a superb free kick by Dylan (Y4) in that final game, and a precise finish by Henry (Y3) in their 4-0 win against Broadstone.

  • Longfleet Go Gold for Dexter

Sat 24 Sep 2022 Lorraine Percy

    Going Gold for Dexter
On Friday 23rd September, all the children and staff at Longfleet dressed in their finest gold, sparkly clothes to support 'Going Gold for Childhood Cancer' but especially for Dexter Constantine-Tatchell who we tragically lost to cancer on 27th July this year.

Seven-year old Dexter passed away after an incredibly brave and hard-fought battle with a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. Dexter was a truly special little boy, very much loved by all the staff and pupils at Longfleet Primary. His infallible will to live life to the fullest (teamed with a cheeky grin) will be remembered always, especially by the Crocodile Class and his friends who spent some very special times with Dexter towards the end of the summer term.

Over the past few weeks, Dexter's family have done the remarkable task of setting up a charity called Dexter's Arc which supports research into Rhabdomyosarcoma without the use of animal testing. It is operating as a branch of the charity, Alice's Arc which the Longfleet staff were raising money for at the end of last year. The 30 mile Harbour Walk raised an unbelievable £12,811.00 and we are so proud to be adding to that through the 'Going Gold' fundraising for Dexter's Arc. The grand total of this Friday's event will be updated once we have finalised the counting but we are delighted to say that it is in its thousands. A huge thank you to all the families that donated, bought candles, wristbands, badges, Achroma cards, hair bows and the extremely popular limited edition Dexter's Golden Dragon Eggs. Your generosity was beyond measure.

As a tribute to Dexter, Master of Dragons, we will be renaming one of our Year Three classes 'Dragons' next year. Thank you to Fraser for this fantastic suggestion.

Dexter and his family (some of whom are still to come through the school) will always have a very special place at Longfleet. We hope to continue raising money for Dexter's Arc and forever remember the golden soul that brought so much joy to everyone he knew.

Dexter couldn't have been more loved by his family. A heartfelt thanks to the Constantine-Tatchells for allowing the Longfleet family into theirs over the course of Dexter's illness. The memories we made are something we'll never forget.

  • Help with Google Classroom

Wed 21 Sep 2022 Mr Oulton

I get an error message saying "We are sorry but you do not have access to Classroom"

This is actually a very simple one and usually happens when trying to use the Google Classroom app on a tablet or mobile device.

Google has an added layer of security and requires that the device you're accessing Google Classroom on has a password/passcode.

This password/passcode can be as simple as 1234 but it needs to be there for access to Google Classroom.
