School Closure: Please click here for Year 2 Maths, English and Reading Home Learning

The Year 2 Home Learning page

Hi everyone. We hope that you are all safe and well!

Welcome to the final week of the Summer term. We will be setting work for children to complete on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday then marks the start of the Summer holidays!

Children can complete our main learning options:

  • to read books at home.
  • to complete the White Rose Maths activities.
  • to explore the new Talk for Writing English activities.

OR, children could complete the reserve options. These include:

  • the Maths booklets
  • the English SPAG activities
  • the Reading Comprehension activities.
  • Children could also explore Numbots online.

Children can complete either the main learning options or the reserve learning options. They could also mix and match. There is no expectation to complete all of the options.

Children could also explore the new OPTIONAL wider curriculum activities. The link to these wider curriculum activities can be found on our Year Two homepage.

Please remember that you can choose activities from the year group above for a greater challenge or from the year group below if the work is a little tricky.

Numbots, Purple Mash, Spelling Shed and Phonics Play logins and passwords should still be live and working and families could investigate the BBC Bitesize webpage and iplayer/red button content too.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Year Two team if you have any questions, would like to share pictures of your work with us or even just to say hello. You can contact us at and we'll get back to you as quickly as we can.

Maths Summer Term Learning

To access the White Rose Maths work, please follow the link below, select and watch the appropriate video for the current week/appropriate day and then click on the 'Get the Activity' task.

Friday White Rose Family Maths Challenge

The most suitable questions for Year 2 are 1, 2 and 3 but if you would like a challenge, you could work with your family to answer the rest of the problems. Good luck!

These booklets could be useful if you are finding the White Rose Maths work requires too much parental support and you need your child to work independently on their Maths. Please note that these booklets are a 'back up' option for you and not an extra task to complete or a replacement for the White Rose work. White Rose remains our first choice for Maths activities for your child.
English Summer Term 2 Learning

Talk for Writing involves a sequence of lessons to support children’s writing skills (whilst also including some reading and grammar work). It is akin to the ‘Talk for Writing’ style of lessons and activities taught in class and throughout year groups. The Talk for Writing lessons will be followed each day by the children working in school.

If children would like to share their work with their teachers, they can send a photo to The Year Two teachers would love to see the children's work and will reply and provide feedback once a week.

English 'Talk for Writing' option - link and activities

It's time for the next Talk for Writing unit. Over the next two weeks, children can explore Rainbows, rainbows everywhere! by Emma Caulfield. Please click on the Talk for Writing link below to access the new story and the activities.

If you'd like to listen to the Year Two teachers reading Emma Caulfield's story, please visit the Longfleet Facebook page. (The video will be added on Sunday evening or Monday morning.)

Whilst exploring the new Talk for Writing link, you'll see that there are a number of interesting activities provided for children to complete. (Below, we have suggested the days that children could complete each Talk for Writing task.)
