Sport at Longfleet

PE and Sport is a big part of a child's education at Longfleet. As well as their weekly sessions with their PE teacher, each class gets a daily 15 minute "Active Afternoon" time. These are structured activities, such as "Stormbreaks" and mini-games that are played to ensure the children are outside, active and having fun. Below are examples of what regularly goes on at Longfleet in more usual times...

Fixtures In Summer Term:

Unfortunately, due to current legislation, there will be no fixtures in the Summer Term. We can guarantee that as soon as we can, Longfleet children will be competing again!



PE Curriculum Spring Term 1:

Each unit incorporates the School Values of kindness, aspiration, resilience and wisdom.


Reception: Using balls - rolling, catching, stopping.

Year 1: Tag Games - Tagging, evading, tactics and rules.

Year 2: Ball skills - Throwing/catching, rolling at speed, stopping at speed, agility.

Year 3: Tag Rugby - Tagging, passing, catching, small-sided games, evading.

Year 4: Basketball - Dribbling technique, passing, small-sided games. 

Year 5: Netball - Rules, creating and defending space, passing, shooting

Year 6: Hockey - Dribbling, shooting, passing, tactics and creating and defending space.



At the end of each unit, House "tournaments" are played in which the children get a chance to showcase their skills in the sport they have learnt that term.

Teams from U8-U15. Also undertake the ALLStars Cricket initiative for Under 8s to get involved in the game.
