Welcome from Miss J Good, Headteacher of Longfleet Combined School:
“Believe, Achieve, Succeed.”
A very warm welcome to our school website.
Thank you for visiting us. Our intention is to give you a flavour of what Longfleet is like as a school and community.
Here at Longfleet we welcome children, their parents and carers into a friendly, happy and hardworking environment where respect for others, positive attitudes to learning and behaviour are encouraged and nurtured.
It is abundantly clear to me, as Headteacher, that a child’s education has a significant impact on their overall happiness and well-being. As professionals we need to remind ourselves continually of the huge responsibility which we accept every day. The job is a privileged one, regardless of position. Our duty of care should never be taken lightly.
“Successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.”
At Longfleet, we lay a great emphasis on the learning and teaching of the basic, core skills of reading, writing and mathematics in a curriculum which provides breadth, balance and continuity across a wide range of subjects. We recognise the importance of preparing children for life in an ever changing world, where it is likely they will require skills that are transferable across a number of roles and professions.
As well as learning about their local community, we promote an understanding of how we are all part of a wider, international community where countries are both independent and interdependent.
We encourage children to understand how they learn best and how there is a need for them to take more and more responsibility for their own learning as they progress through our school.
We place high importance of academic achievement and success, where every child achieves the very best they can. However we also aim to develop within every child, the skills to communicate effectively, understand and accept differences within each other, demonstrate empathy and compassion, overcome fears, develop self belief and determination. We seek to build the self-esteem of all children through a policy of equal opportunity. All staff work hard to ensure relationships throughout our school are based on mutual trust and respect Our ethos is underpinned by Christian beliefs and values which are lived out in the daily life of our school.
We recognise the importance of strong partnerships with parents and carers and are keen to welcome you to visit our school. You are warmly invited to contact the school to arrange a visit either by phoning our school’s administrator or by popping in to our office.
With best wishes
Jacqui Good
Headteacher
