Last week we explored our school value of ‘Be Kind’ during friendship week through our ‘Kindness Counts’ campaign. We had several special assemblies and activities throughout the week. Each class was given a ‘kindness owl’ to help look out for acts of kindness and children also received certificates, wristbands and stickers in recognition of their kind acts. A 'Keep Safe Council' has now been elected and further information will follow shortly. A huge thank you to all that applied - it proves how much everyone at Longfleet cares about making our school a safe and happy place.
Today, the Eagles class had a great time reading to the Year1s. They thought really carefully about the sorts of questions they could ask to make sure the Year 1s understood their stories. The Year 1s listened really nicely and the Year 5s were great role models!
On Thursday 16th November, our boys team from Year 5 and 6 competed in the Poole 7-a-side finals at Carter Community School. We had qualified for these finals with draws against Hamworthy and Broadstone and wins against Oakdale, Baden Powell and Haymoor in the qualifying tournament.
This put us into the top four teams in Poole but unfortunately we will not be progressing to the County 7-a-side finals as we lost to Talbot and BCS and drew against Broadstone.
The team should be proud of their efforts and we are now looking forward to the next round of 9-a-side league matches after qualifying from our group. Thank you to all of the parents and relatives who helped with transport and gave such fantastic support to our players.
Longfleet vs Oakdale
In the first match it was 0-0, but suddenly Mimi jumped in making it 1-0 to Longfleet. Whilst one match was going on, another was 0-0. With Longfleet having points in one of the games, Oakdale had to up their game but unfortunately Oakdale grabbed the ball and scored making it 1-1. It was time to change positions and Esme was in centre. At that point, as soon as Esme had thrown, Longfleet caught it and scored!! Oakdale scored more and more, they had got up to 7-2. Oakdale were at the goal, they took the shot and they scored!!!! Well done to everyone who played!
