    Dear Parents and Carers,

It would appear that Storm Emma is potentially going to result in some snow falling in the local area over the next few days. At present we are expecting to continue ‘business as usual’. If the opportunity arises (i.e. we get a significant amount) we will alter our lessons and provide opportunities for the children to enjoy the snow. Therefore, it is important that they have appropriate clothing (a coat) in school and a warm PE kit (tracksuit bottoms and top etc.) to change into if they get wet. Depending upon circumstances you may wish to send in wellies, gloves etc in a spare bag.

In the highly unlikely event that the school needs to close we will inform you via:-

    • Text

    • School Website

    • Local Radio

If the amount of snow changes significantly during the school day (i.e. roads could be becoming increasingly dangerous) we will communicate with you about giving you the option to pick your child up earlier than 3.15pm if you so wished.

We are planning for Thursday’s Music Concert at St. Mary’s Church (6.30pm-8pm, everyone welcome) to go ahead. If we do have to change plans we will obviously communicate this with you and would make sure that it was rescheduled for later in the year.

  • Reception Tesco visit

    Wed 28 Feb 2018
Reception had a great time exploring the Tesco Branksome store.  They were allowed 'behind the scenes' to look at the bakery and enjoyed being fruit and vegetable detectives.  It was interesting to find out how far some produce had travelled from around the world to reach us here in Poole!  A big thank you to the staff for their knowledge and patience during our visits.
  • Year 4 Swimming Gala

    Thu 22 Feb 2018
Longfleet took 9 children for the annual Poole Schools Swimming Gala, held at Rossmore. The children did brilliantly in this team event and finished 2nd out of 12 schools, an unbelievable effort from the 5 girls and 4 boys that participated. A special mention to Christopher, who won both his 25m races in breaststroke and front crawl by some distance. The boys and girls should be really proud of their efforts and resilience during the gala. Thank you also to the parents who were enthusiastically supporting the children throughout from the viewing area.
  • Tag Rugby Festival

    Thu 22 Feb 2018
Nine children from Year 5 and 6 walked to Poole High School for a Tag Rugby festival, organised by Poole Rugby Club and using Poole High School's Year 10 "Rugby Ambassadors", who prepared and taught all the games and activities. The focus was on enjoyment and skills, and Longfleet had a brilliant time.
  • Let's Go Fly a Kite

    Thu 08 Feb 2018
The Year One topic of "Whatever the Weather" came to a exciting and (very occasionally) flying finish on the Thursday before half term. The parents were a fantastic help in designing and making the kites with the children, and also proved adept at helping the children try to get the kites off the ground! Take a look through the photos to see some amazingly designed kites and the children having an amazing time trying to fly them.
  • Treehouse Theatre visit Reception

    Thu 08 Feb 2018
Reception had great fun improvising a pirate themed story with The Treehouse Theatre company this week.  We sang songs, danced and used our imaginations to create a story as a class, using props.

  • Reception library visit

Reception enjoyed their visit to Oakdale library last week.  The children explored the books, listened to stories and shared songs.  They were shown how to borrow a book and scan its barcode.
  • AFCB Girls' Football Tournament

    Tue 06 Feb 2018
Longfleet took nine keen girls to this AFCB Bournemouth 6-a-side tournament, held at Littledown Leisure Centre. With nearly 30 other teams present, there were plenty of skills on show. Longfleet had a tough group, with St Katherine's in particular showing lots of pace and good finishing. We held our own however and finished with four draws from five games. A special mention to Sophie M, who's tracking back and speed meant she seemed to cover every blade of grass in every match!
  • Year 5/6 Tag Rugby

    Thu 01 Feb 2018
Longfleet hosted a friendly mini-tournament in which Hawmorthy Park Junior brought two teams and Longfleet fielded three. All matches showed both schools have players with pace and good ball skills. The matches were high scoring, with a fun 15 v 15 match towards the end of the tournament the only game finishing in single figure scores. More matches await Year 5/6 with a match next Wednesday against Oakdale and two tournaments in Spring 2.
