  • Year 3/4 Football Festival

    Mon 31 Jan 2022

Longfleet took two teams to Baden Powell and St Peter's Junior School for a festival, which included 6 other teams. Matches were short but filled with action- with both our A and B teams showing determination and resilience with some strong tackling and blocking. Highlights included the A team keeping clean sheets in all their matches, whilst Thomas F made two superhero saves in the B team (not bad considering he didn't want to be in goal!) Things are certainly looking promising for our young football teams going forward!

  • Community Acts of Kindness

    Sun 09 Jan 2022

As part of Kindness Week, children have thoroughly enjoyed participating in acts of kindness within our local community. We began the week with a trip to our local food bank distribution centre. The children were amazing and helped with sorting and organising food do-nations ready for distribution to the collection points. We learnt a lot about why we have food banks and how they help people.

Secondly, children went to the Garland Road crossing to pre-sent our lollipop man John with a huge thank you card. As a school, we said thank you to him for helping us stay safe in our community.

Finally, a group of children baked two fantastic cakes to deliver to a local nursing home to say a huge thank you to all of the care workers that help to look after the elderly. As part of Kindness Week, the children decided they wanted to deliver these cakes for staff and

    residents to enjoy.

  • Kindness Week 2021

    Sun 09 Jan 2022

In November we celebrated Anti-Bullying Week, or as we prefer to call it at Longfleet, Kindness Week. Throughout the week, children participated in several activities and assemblies around the theme of being kind to each other and understanding what bullying means. The week began with lots of children and staff wearing odd socks to celebrate that we are all different and that being unique is good. Each class created a Kindness Charter pledging kind and respectful behaviour to one another. We wrote letters and postcards saying thank you to people and thought about what we are thankful for. Children were awarded Kindness certificates and were given a card if they were 'caught' doing a random act of

kindness. Classes discussed the difference between bullying and banter and the impact of being unkind to people and the lasting affect this can have. The primary objective of the week was to focus on how being kind is so easy and yet makes such a huge difference to people and their wellbeing. Let the kindness spread!
