  • Parent Champion for SEND – Monthly support and advice for families

    Wed 21 Sep 2022

As a school we want to play a role in improving SEND services for our children and young people. We now have an opportunity to provide a confidential space here in school for families of children with SEND through a new Parent Champion project delivered and funded by SENDiass4BCP and Parent Carers Together.

On the first Friday of each month a dedicated Parent Champion, Kerry Lowe, will hold one session to support families in navigating appropriate local and National services and networks to meet the needs of their children. These meetings can be booked in advance through the email address given: (clare.kent@longfleet.coastalpartnership.co.uk). You child does not have to have a diagnosis for you to attend a session with the Parent Champion.

Our first session will held on Friday 7th October, 10-12.  Time slots are allocated to individual families on a first come first served basis and are held in confidence during the school day.

If you are experiencing difficulties and are unsure where to access the support and resources you need please do get in touch and confirm your interest in writing. The role of the Parent Champion is to listen and to share knowledge of the services and the networks in your local community that may be of help to you. This is a safe space for you to talk about any worries or concerns you may have.

This is a valuable resource we are so pleased to be part of. Together we can improve services and support for families within our school community.

Breakfast has been enjoyed and the children are ready to...

Group A the wilderness/survival day and group B the history day.

The day trippers are due very shortly.

  • New Barn

    Thu 14 Jul 2022

A fun first with Group B learning survival skills. Great teamwork was shown with all groups successfully creating a shelter.

Group B tried to make a fire. They were having fun and getting close.

Group A has been having a history day. They have had a go at making butter and a clay bowl. Both groups came together for the BBQ and storyteller, followed by hot chocolate. A great day has been had by all.

  • Dorset School Games Finals

    Wed 22 Jun 2022

Ten children travelled to the picturesque Bryanston School to participate in a range of fun activities to complete the Dorset School Games calendar. As well as cricket, table cricket (a new one for Mr Cole and certainly one to try at Longfleet), dance and orienteering, the children also got the chance to try a new sport for the first time: quidditch! The sun shone and the children reflected the spirit of the day, which was about fun and friendly competition.

  • Sports Day

    Wed 22 Jun 2022

Sports Day was blessed by the weather this year. Two days of glorious sunshine followed Years 4,5 and 6 on Monday morning and Years 2 and 3 Monday afternoon. Tuesday morning was the turn of Reception and Year 1, who completed a mix of field activities and track races on rotation. The results were:

    4th: Water (414)

    3rd: Fire (417)

    2nd: Earth (435)

    1st: Air (448)

A fantastic two days had by all!

  • Dynamos Cricket Tournament

    Tue 14 Jun 2022

Longfleet took two teams to Poole Park on a beautifully sunny day to play a reformed version of Kwik Cricket - called Dynamos Cricket. 5 ball overs and 5 runs added to the other team's score were the new rules for this game - and Longfleet started with some great bowling, clean hitting and rather chaotic running! Team A won their group, beating Baden Powell and St Joseph's . Team B finished 3rd in their group.

The next group stage ended with Team A losing narrowly to St Katherine's school (the eventual winners) by 2 runs and drawing with Baden Powell. This meant that our two teams finished 2nd and 8th respectively. Particular highlights included a "worldie" catch from Alex for Team B and two excellent run-outs by Joseph and Harrison for Team A.

With England's test team finally back to winning ways, many  of our squad of 17 are pushing themselves forward to be the next Joe Root...

  • Longfleet Music Showcase 2022

Tue 29 Mar 2022 Miss Wright

On Thursday 24th March 2022,  Longfleet Primary School held a really special concert - our first since March 2020! Around 150 performers and an audience of about 350 packed out Poole High School Theatre for the special event. Despite a challenging two years, more pupils than ever are learning to play instruments at Longfleet and we have a record number of 72 pupils in our orchestra. Our orchestra opened the Music Showcase, bolstered by our fantastic peripatetic instrument tutors and the Poole High School Orchestra. Following the opening piece from the orchestra, around 150 pupils performed on orchestral and rock & pop instruments.  Despite some backstage nerves, all of the pupils, aged between 7-11, performed with confidence and poise. For many of them it was their first ever performance but you would never have known it! The evening ended with two brilliant songs from our awesome school rock band. For two hours we had been transported to a place of joy and magic, created by the hard work and aspiration of these fantastic children. To see all of the photographs visit the music page on the school website Music Showcase 2022 Photographs .Thank you to Jenny Holness and Jon Musselwhite for being our event photographers, to all our brilliant peripatetic tutors, our secondary school orchestra helpers, the Poole High School musicians & staff and all the Longfleet staff & parents who made this event possible. But most of all, well done to every single one of our Longfleet musicians! We are SO proud of you all!

  • Dorset FA Schools Cup Champions!

    Tue 29 Mar 2022

On Monday 28th March, our Longfleet Lions (the Year 5 and 6 football team) travelled to Wimborne Town FC to take part in the finals afternoon of the Dorset Cup.

Our first match was the semi-final against St Michael's Middle School. Goals from Philip, Sam and Callum secured a 3-0 victory and meant a place in the finals against the winners from the other semi-final - Talbot Primary.

From the very first whistle to the end, the boys played magnificently and goals from Tyler, Philip, Callum and Alex meant that we won 4-0.

A huge thank you to all of our supporters and an enormous well done to the team. It is the first time in the cup's sixty-one year history that Longfleet has ever won it and everyone should be extremely proud of this achievement.

  • Year 4 Tag Rugby Festival

    Wed 23 Mar 2022

Longfleet took 2 teams to this excellent festival, hosted by Wimborne RFC and Rippa Rugby. Twenty-two teams competed in all, with the emphasis throughout being on the five values of rugby: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship (TRADS). These were shown in abundance by both teams. The Longfleet Two team won medals to recognise their progress in these values, with a special mention to Brodie for his improved teamwork and values as the tournament progressed. Artha won a medal as their group's "special talent" with her speed and try-scoring skill.

  • Storm Eunice Update

    Fri 18 Feb 2022

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We have received notification from BCP that they are advising pupils to stay at home tomorrow where possible. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to take this choice if you can. We will have a skeleton staff on site at the school because we know that some parents are essential key workers who may well be required for emergency purposes depending on the impact of the storm.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that most schools in the local area are completely closed, our staffing capacity is severely reduced and so we will not be able to offer live lessons. The pupils are invited to read, complete some TT Rockstars/Numbots, do some Purple Mash activities, explore BBC Bitesize, look at the lessons on the Oak Academy website or enjoy a well deserved rest!

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but the advice from BCP is now much clearer than it was earlier in the day.

    Yours sincerely,

    Nigel Helm,

    Headteacher
