As part of our new topic, 'Where in the world is Barnaby Bear?', Year 2 enjoyed celebrating different countries and cultures. The children came into school dressed in clothing to represent a country of their choice. They also enjoyed sharing interesting facts and had the opportunity to taste a range of food from around the world.

Avast ye mateys!  Reception had a swashbuckling day of pirate fun and enjoyed participating in pirate themed activities including art and craft, a treasure hunt and role play.  A great deal of fun was had by all.  The children's costumes were fantastic; thank you to parents and carers for their time and help with these.

For our new topic 'Whatever the Weather', Year 1 were surprised to have a special visit from Jack Frost.

The children had an exciting morning playing in the snow outside and making class snowmen.

Eleven Year 5 students were fortunate enough to be picked for an incredible opportunity just before Christmas. As part of the Premier League Stars initiative that is running at Longfleet, these children got to play matches, have group coaching sessions and they even got a tour of Bournemouth Fc's Vitality Stadium! All the children had an amazing time and thanks must go to the willing parents for giving up their time on a Saturday afternoon.

On Wednesday 21^st March our orchestra will be performing at a Music For Youth Festival in Southampton. Music For Youth is a national youth arts charity that put on many high quality events for young people at both a regional and national level. This is an exciting opportunity for our pupils to perform in front of a wider audience and to be inspired by other young musicians.

The Longfleet Orchestra will also be opening and closing our Longfleet Instrumental concert on Thursday 1st March. For more information about music lessons, clubs and events please check out the music pages on the website.

These matches were for the children who hadn’t played in the original Howeison Cup Football Tournament in October, and it gave these children a great chance to show the skills and resilience they had shown already during weekly sessions at Football Club on Tuesdays. Although the matches were not deemed competitive, the amount of parents who came to watch from both schools made it seem like it was! Both Lilliput and Longfleet fielded two teams each. With some Lilliput players having played in the original tournament, new rules were decided to give players who hadn’t had match-time before a little more of the ball. A special mention must go to Tye in goal for the “A” team, who made some excellent saves, and also to Harry in the “B” team, who showed fantastic resilience throughout.

We have a place for a Longfleet pupil from Year 4 or Year 5 to learn violin from January 9th. Lessons  are on Tuesday afternoons during school time. There are ten 20 minute lessons each term @ £42.20 per term. Please contact Miss Wright for more information.

We have enjoyed a busy few weeks in the build up to Christmas.  Each year group has done a show, performance or a church service.  We've had a visit from the pantomime, eaten a lovely Christmas lunch, enjoyed the school fair and danced at the disco.

 

Our choir have been particularly busy with performances at the Lighthouse Theatre, a church community lunch and at Poole Hospital.

It was an absolute joy to watch Years 1 and 2 join together for their spectacular performances of 'A Midwife Crisis'. We are unbelievably proud of each and every child for their singing, dancing and acting and we would like to thank the children, parents and staff for all their hard work. 'A Midwife Crisis' brought laughter, tears and a large helping of Christmas spirit and we hope that all those who came to watch left feeling festive and reminded of why we celebrate this special time of year. Merry Christmas to all from the Key Stage One Team and another massive well done to the children - you're all stars!

On Tuesday 28^th November year 6 were presented with a dictionary each. We had some Rotary club members come to present them to us. They were a very generous gift from the members of Poole Rotary Club and they even had our names printed in the front.

 

The Rotary club is a charity that gives money to schools and other things that help the world. Their motto is “Service Before Self”.
