Help your child to become independent, learn a new organisational skill and make mornings and evenings less stressful by using visuals for routines, timetables and reward charts for completing tasks. Remember every new skill takes time and practise, so supporting your child to use these is very important to start with lots of praise and reap the rewards when your young one starts to do small independent tasks that will boast self-esteem and organisational skills.
Use a calendar to help your child understand the days of the week, when homework is due, when they have PE or music lessons, after-school clubs, celebrate other people birthdays – this is a great way to support anxiety for change as well as good organisational skills;
