    Poole 7-a-side Tournament

On Thursday 5th October, the Longfleet Lions (our Y6 Boys' football team) took part in a 7-a-side tournament hosted by Baden-Powell St. Peter's Junior School. The event featured 10 Poole schools all trying to qualify for the four places in the Poole Regional Final.

The group games started well with a 2-0 win over Hamworthy  Junior with goals from Remi and Brodie followed up with a 1-0 victory against Talbot Primary with a second from Remi. They lost their next game 1-0 to Haymoor Junior but a 0-0 draw in the final game against Canford Heath Junior was enough to win the group and qualify for the final.

In the final, they played Oakdale Junior and drew 0-0, sharing the title of joint-winners for the afternoon. The team are looking forward to playing in the Poole Regional Final after half-term. Well done to all of the players and thanks to to the spectators for supporting the team.

  • New Barn - Day 1

    Thu 13 Jul 2023

An amazing first day has been had. The year split into two groups with one group building shelters as their first teamwork challenge. A well-deserved lunch followed this.  After lunch, the group tried its hand at trying to make fire. They were shown three different ways to try and make fire. One was using a bow system, another was with a pump drill and the other was using a rolling technique. The other group had their history day. They learnt about medicines, saw some weapons and made a chalk carving. We then returned to the houses and had a bit of a rest and an unpack. Then dinner time! The children tucked into their BBQ food before settling down for a wonderful story from the amazing storyteller Lizzy! The children are all tucked up in bed getting (hopefully) a good night’s sleep before another busy day tomorrow.

  • Year 2 Football Festival

    Thu 19 Jan 2023

Longfleet hosted a football festival, with five other schools invited: Bishop Aldhelm's, Lilliput, St Joseph's, Talbot and Springdale. The fixtures were a round robin of games, with respect, enthusiasm and fun the key themes of the day. Thank you to all of the parents who came to support and the adults for bringing their children. Well done to Mr Mace for managing the Longfleet side and enthusing the children throughout. Another festival looks likely in the near future.

  • Lionesses at Dorset Finals

    Sun 15 Jan 2023

Our Year 5/6 Lionesses competed superbly at the Dorset Finals, held at Littledown Leisure Centre, finishing 3rd overall in the whole of Dorset. In the group stage, wins against Spetisbury (4-0), Highcliffe (1-0) and St Ives (1-0) ensured we had a place in the semi-finals. The final group stage game was against eventual winners St Walburga's, who beat Longfleet 2-0. This put us against St Michael's, who managed to also beat Longfleet 2-0, albeit with a very strong wind helping them along! A third place play-off against Kingsleigh resulted in a 3-1 for Longfleet, with Poppy G scoring two and assisting one.

More matches are scheduled for the League Cup against Baden Powell and Broadstone in the near future.

  • Anti-Bullying Week 2022

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

Next week is National Anti-Bullying week, or as we prefer to call it at Longfleet, Kindness Week.  The theme this year is ‘Reach Out’.  Throughout the week we will be talking about how and to whom we can reach out if we feel we are being bullied or we feel worried or sad or lonely.  We will also consider how we can reach out to others if we see somebody who needs help. Reaching out to others will include participating in acts of kindness and activities that promote the school value of kindness.
We would love to hear about or receive photos of any acts of kindness that happen within the home, extended family or wider community.  Kindly email your child’s year group team if you would like to share.
To kick-start Kindness Week we invite all adults and children to wear odd socks on Monday 14th November to promote diversity and celebrate difference.  We are all unique!

If you would like further information regarding Anti-Bullying Week and the Anti-Bullying Alliance please Click Here.

‘We all have a responsibility to help each other reach out. Together, let’s be the change we want to see. Reflect on our own behaviour, set positive examples and create kinder communities. (ABA)
