The Longfleet School Orchestra spent their Saturday rehearsing in a ferry terminal this weekend! It was the only space big enough to house the 550 primary, secondary, special school and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra musicians meeting up for the very first time. The children and young people came form schools in Poole, Bournemouth, Southampton and the Isle Of Wight. The purpose? To rehearse for our massed ensemble performance at the Music For Youth Proms at the Albert Hall on Monday 5th November. The sound during the rehearsal was incredible: full orchestral sections, choral singing, body percussion, handbells - it had everything. The composer James Redwood jointly conducted the huge ensemble with BSO conductor, Frank Zielhorst. The whole event was brilliantly co-ordinated by Soundstorm and the Bournemouth Symphony orchestra. Thanks to all involved for a wonderful day and we are really looking forward to the Royal Albert Hall performance on Monday!
