On Friday 3rd May, our Year 6 Boys' football team, the Lions, played Ferndown Middle School in the Dorset Cup Final. . The team had earnt their place at the County Ground by beating Allenbourn Middle 4-1 in the semi-final thanks to a brace each from Harley and Remi.
The final started positively for the Lions as they took an early lead thanks to a penalty from Remi. However, Ferndown showed their strength and equalised almost immediately. Two further goals put Ferndown in control at half-time leading three one. In the second half, the Lions manged to score one more thanks to Brodie but Ferndown triumphed 5-2.
Although the boys were disappointed at the result, they should be proud of their efforts as they are only the second Longfleet team ever to reach the final of this competition. Thanks to all the parents and families for their support all season and we wish these players well with their future sporting careers!
