• Let's Go Fly a Kite

  The Year One topic of "Whatever the Weather" came to a exciting and (very occasionally) flying finish on the Thursday before half term. The parents were a fantastic help in designing and making the kites with the children, and also proved adept at helping the children try to get the kites off the ground! Take a look through the photos to see some amazingly designed kites and the children having an amazing time trying to fly them.

  

• Treehouse Theatre visit Reception

  Reception had great fun improvising a pirate themed story with The Treehouse Theatre company this week.  We sang songs, danced and used our imaginations to create a story as a class, using props.  

  

• Year 5/6 Netball

  Longfleet vs Oakdale

  We [Longfleet] played a couple of Netball matches against Oakdale at Oakdale School. We took all of the netballers from Year five and six. Each school had 3 teams.

• Reception library visit

  Reception enjoyed their visit to Oakdale library last week.  The children explored the books, listened to stories and shared songs.  They were shown how to borrow a book and scan its barcode.  

  

• AFCB Girls' Football Tournament

  Longfleet took nine keen girls to this AFCB Bournemouth 6-a-side tournament, held at Littledown Leisure Centre. With nearly 30 other teams present, there were plenty of skills on show. Longfleet had a tough group, with St Katherine's in particular showing lots of pace and good finishing. We held our own however and finished with four draws from five games. A special mention to Sophie M, who's tracking back and speed meant she seemed to cover every blade of grass in every match!

  

• Year 5/6 Tag Rugby

  Longfleet hosted a friendly mini-tournament in which Hawmorthy Park Junior brought two teams and Longfleet fielded three. All matches showed both schools have players with pace and good ball skills. The matches were high scoring, with a fun 15 v 15 match towards the end of the tournament the only game finishing in single figure scores. More matches await Year 5/6 with a match next Wednesday against Oakdale and two tournaments in Spring 2.

  

• Year 2 Football

  Upton Infants and Lilliput were the visitors for a friendly festival, in which each school brought two teams. This meant each side got a minimum of 5 matches, with resilience and kindness shown by all three schools. Thank you as ever to the parents for their support and to the children for their enthusiasm and skills.

• Drumming Tuition: place available

  Thu 25 Jan 2018 Miss Wright

  We have a place available for drum kit tuition from 4.40-5pm on Tuesdays, starting after the Half Term break. This is the only time slot that we have available at the moment. There are ten 20 minute lessons per term and the children are taught in pairs. Lesson fees are paid for in advance and our termly charge for lessons is £43. If your child is eligible for Pupil Premium this can be used towards the cost of instrumental lessons. Please let the school office or Miss Wright know if you would like the place. • LONGFLEET FESTIVAL OF MUSIC

  THURSDAY 1ST MARCH 2018

  6.30 - 8pm AT ST MARY’S LONGFLEET

   

  With so many children at Longfleet learning to play a musical instrument we have decided to host a special concert to share and celebrate their talents.

  All children who have lessons on a musical instrument at school (guitar, drums, violin, cello, clarinet, keyboard, piano, trumpet, cornet and trombone) have been invited to perform at the concert. The children will be playing music in groups, so there’s no need for performance nerves – just look forward to a fun evening! The orchestra will begin and conclude the concert.

  Everyone is invited to come and listen to the concert. Like all concerts, we ask you to arrive at the beginning and stay until the end out of courtesy to the performers and other audience members. There will be an interval in the middle for you to stretch your legs, catch up with friends and have a cup of tea or squash.
