  • Year 2 Football

    Fri 15 Dec 2017

These matches were for the children who hadn’t played in the original Howeison Cup Football Tournament in October, and it gave these children a great chance to show the skills and resilience they had shown already during weekly sessions at Football Club on Tuesdays. Although the matches were not deemed competitive, the amount of parents who came to watch from both schools made it seem like it was! Both Lilliput and Longfleet fielded two teams each. With some Lilliput players having played in the original tournament, new rules were decided to give players who hadn’t had match-time before a little more of the ball. A special mention must go to Tye in goal for the “A” team, who made some excellent saves, and also to Harry in the “B” team, who showed fantastic resilience throughout.

  • Christmas at Longfleet

    Thu 14 Dec 2017

We have enjoyed a busy few weeks in the build up to Christmas.  Each year group has done a show, performance or a church service.  We've had a visit from the pantomime, eaten a lovely Christmas lunch, enjoyed the school fair and danced at the disco.

Our choir have been particularly busy with performances at the Lighthouse Theatre, a church community lunch and at Poole Hospital.

We hope you all have a lovely family Christmas.

  • Nativity: A Midwife Crisis

    Tue 12 Dec 2017

It was an absolute joy to watch Years 1 and 2 join together for their spectacular performances of 'A Midwife Crisis'. We are unbelievably proud of each and every child for their singing, dancing and acting and we would like to thank the children, parents and staff for all their hard work. 'A Midwife Crisis' brought laughter, tears and a large helping of Christmas spirit and we hope that all those who came to watch left feeling festive and reminded of why we celebrate this special time of year. Merry Christmas to all from the Key Stage One Team and another massive well done to the children - you're all stars!

  • Dictionary Presentation

    Fri 08 Dec 2017 Oliver H and Quinn T

On Tuesday 28th November year 6 were presented with a dictionary each. We had some Rotary club members come to present them to us. They were a very generous gift from the members of Poole Rotary Club and they even had our names printed in the front.

The Rotary club is a charity that gives money to schools and other things that help the world. Their motto is “Service Before Self”.

  • Year 3/4 Football Tournament

    Tue 28 Nov 2017
Hamworthy Park Junior School hosted an entertaining tournament comprising of 2 teams each from Longfleet, Hamworthy and Ocean Academy. Although not officially considered "competitive" matches, good commitment was on show; strong tackles and brave blocks in defence were supported by some well-taken goals by both Longfleet teams. Special mention must go to Logan, who deputising in goal in the final match, made a save at full stretch, reminiscent of David de Gea, to tip the ball away for a corner via the post.
  • House Day!

    Tue 28 Nov 2017
On Monday 27th November, the whole school took part in our second 'House Day' of the year. It was great to see children from different classes and year groups working together on art activities linked to their house theme, completing sporting challenges and learning songs linked to our values. Thank you to the parents and carers for providing suitably bright clothing as you will see in the photos that are coming soon!
  • Home Learning Exhibition

    Mon 27 Nov 2017
Last week we held our Autumn Term Home Learning Exhibition.  The children are given the option to produce a piece of work linked to their current topic and we were very impressed with the creativity and quality of the work that was brought in.  The exhibition enabled all the pupils and their parents to see the models, pictures, powerpoints, games and written work from across the school.  Some of the work has been selected to stay on display in the Hub area of the school.
  • Kindness Week

    Fri 24 Nov 2017

Last week we explored our school value of ‘Be Kind’ during friendship week through our ‘Kindness Counts’ campaign. We had several special assemblies and activities throughout the week. Each class was given a ‘kindness owl’ to help look out for acts of kindness and children also received certificates, wristbands and stickers in recognition of their kind acts. A 'Keep Safe Council' has now been elected and further information will follow shortly. A huge thank you to all that applied - it proves how much everyone at Longfleet cares about making our school a safe and happy place.

  • Year 5 and Year 1 Reading

    Thu 23 Nov 2017

Today, the Eagles class had a great time reading to the Year1s. They thought really carefully about the sorts of questions they could ask to make sure the Year 1s understood their stories. The Year 1s listened really nicely and the Year 5s were great role models!
