On Friday 7th December, our Y5 and 6 football team played Canford Heath Junior School. After beating Talbot 4 - 0 in our last game, the boys were full of confidence but found themselves one goal down after an excellent free-kick from Canford Heath. However, the boys showed great resilience and Noah scored a sensational goal - controlling the ball excellently and volleying home.
The Lions continued to improve in the second half and made the pressure count as Lewis stabbed the ball in after Harrison's corner.
We are now looking forward to our Dorset Cup match next week and to our next round in the league in January. Well done to all of those who played and supported the team so well.
Wow! Another busy week at Longfleet! Last week was Anti Bullying Week and the theme this year was #chooserespect. The whole school participated in a number of activities throughout the week to raise awareness that bullying behaviour is a choice and that we can all choose our behaviour so let's choose kindness! We began with our odd sock day on Tuesday. The children and staff were invited to wear odd socks to highlight the fact that we are all unique and that we should still show respect and value those differences. The Keep Safe Council presented an Anti Bullying Assembly to promote their role and responsibilities within school and to raise awareness of the fact that bullying is a behaviour choice. #chooserespect.
The Keep Safe Council distributed a pupil survey regarding attitudes to feeling safe. The details of which will follow shortly. The children were also involved in teaming up with another Year group to create some kindness hands ready for our Longfleet Tree of Kindness which will be on display very soon.
The Longfleet Lionesses continued their excellent form at the Poole Girls' Football Finals, finishing in an unbeaten second place, which was enough to ensure they progressed to the next round, the Dorset Finals at Littledown. Parents watching commented on the improvements made by the girls, in their tackling, positioning and goalscoring. Abigail D again topped the scoring charts with 3 goals, but it was the defence and goalkeeper that really helped the performances, conceding a solitary goal in three games.
Longfleet 1 - 1 Ocean
Longfleet 4 - 0 Talbot
Longfleet 0 - 0 Heatherlands
On Monday 5th September the Longfleet Orchestra took part in the fantastic Music For Youth Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The adventure began way back in 2016 when Soundstorm and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra invited us to help compose and perform a piece of music to celebrate the BSO’s 125th birthday. Have a look at the great video (on our Music page) from Hands-On Media which will tell you more about our journey from there to the Royal Albert Hall.

The concert on Monday was truly amazing. We were inspired by the performances from other groups including an outstanding trumpet soloist, awesome rock bands, a very professional young brass band, uplifting choirs and impressive orchestras. However, the highlight of the evening was the massed ensemble performance of Symphony 125. We were part of an ensemble of 600 secondary, primary and special school pupils from Poole, Bournemouth, the Isle of Wight and Southampton as well as BSO musicians. The piece featured orchestral music, singing, body percussion, a ‘chimes take-over’ and a hand bell section; it had the whole audience on their feet applauding at the end! The concert ended with finale song performed by everyone. At the end of the song balloons fell from the ceiling, fireworks exploded and streamers filled the air – a spectacular end to a spectacular concert!
A message from Miss Wright to let everyone know that the Orchestra has arrived at the Royal Albert Hall!
Now for the soundcheck!
