  • Y5 & 6 Boys' Football 7-a-side Poole Finals

    Fri 17 Nov 2017

On Thursday 16th November, our boys team from Year 5 and 6 competed in the Poole 7-a-side finals at Carter Community School. We had qualified for these finals with draws against Hamworthy and Broadstone and wins against Oakdale, Baden Powell and Haymoor in the qualifying tournament.

This put us into the top four teams in Poole but unfortunately we will not be progressing to the County 7-a-side finals as we lost to Talbot and BCS and drew against Broadstone.

The team should be proud of their efforts and we are now looking forward to the next round of 9-a-side league matches after qualifying from our group. Thank you to all of the parents and relatives who helped with transport and gave such fantastic support to our players.

  • Year 5 and 6 Girls' Football Festival

    Thu 16 Nov 2017
Longfleet took two teams to Hamworthy Park Junior School, who hosted a brilliant festival that include only 3 schools but 8 teams! The emphasis was on game time and allowing everyone to have time in different positions. Highlights included great goals by Eloise and a impressive debut by Abigail. Thank you as always to the parents for their support.
  • Year 4 Netball Match

    Wed 15 Nov 2017

    Longfleet vs Oakdale

In the first match it was 0-0, but suddenly Mimi jumped in making it 1-0 to Longfleet. Whilst one match was going on, another was 0-0. With Longfleet having points in one of the games, Oakdale had to up their game but unfortunately Oakdale grabbed the ball and scored making it 1-1. It was time to change positions and Esme was in centre. At that point, as soon as Esme had thrown, Longfleet caught it and scored!! Oakdale scored more and more, they had got up to 7-2. Oakdale were at the goal, they took the shot and they scored!!!! Well done to everyone who played!

  • Year 5 Ancient Greek Day

    Wed 15 Nov 2017

On Monday the 13th of November, Year 5 had an ancient Greek day. The whole of year 5 came to school dressed up as a Greek person. Firstly, we made up a play about Jason and the Golden Fleece. It was funny because Miss Thompson had to be the huge, fire-breathing dragon. After that, all the classes went and did different activities: Quizzes, an Archimedes puzzle and a game of Petteia.

When all the classes came into the hall, we held an Olympics (Athens vs Sparta.) We learnt how to fight like a Greek warrior and destroy the Minotaur and throw the hoop on the bull. This was the best day ever!

  • Moon Buggy Week

    Wed 01 Nov 2017

    Moon Buggy Week

The week before half term was moon buggy week in Year 5. We learnt about the history and the purpose of moon buggies. Then we made our own model moon buggies in pairs. As well as learning Design Technology skills, we also developed our understanding of our three school values. Our favourite parts were making the frame with a glue gun, wrapping mostly everything in foil and sawing the wood for the frame. Mr Thurlow, Mrs Rymer and Mrs Kent helped us with the sawing and glue gunning. Here are some photos of our construction and our finished moon buggies. It was so much fun!

  • Learnersaur Day!

    Tue 31 Oct 2017

Some strange dinosaur footprints appeared in the Reception playground yesterday...the Learnersaurs had arrived at Longfleet!  The Learnersaurs encourage the children to become more aware of their learning behaviours and the skills that help them to learn best.  Their names are Tryatops, Explorasaur, Solveosaurus Rex, Stickasaurus, Askaraptor and Thinkadocus.  We had lots of fun trying six activities linked to these learning characteristics.

  • KS1 Howieson Cup Football

    Fri 20 Oct 2017

The first Key Stage 1 sporting event of the year took place at Longfleet on Thursday 19th October. The football tournament comprised of Longfleet, Courthill, Heatherlands, Sylvan and Lilliput. The group format ensured each team played 4 games and all players got a good amount of time on the pitch. After some excellent games and some marvellous skills shown (including a remarkable one-handed save from Longfleet’s goalkeeper Victor) the points and goals were added up. The eventual winners, with a total of 10 points from a possible 12, were Courthill.

  • Year 5 and 6 Football Team

    Fri 20 Oct 2017

Our league team has been very busy playing three games in the space of eight days to meet the league deadline. We started against very impressive opponents Oakdale and lost 5-0. The team showed great resilience to bounce back and win their second match 6-3 just two days later (with a football club in between) against Ocean Academy. Our final match was against Baden Powell at home. We played some tremendous football and won the game 5-1. We are now waiting on other results from our group to see if we go through to the knock-out round. Well done to all of the children and families involved.
