  • Reception Starters - September 2021

    Tue 24 Nov 2020

    Dear prospective parents and carers,

In the attached letter (see below) from the headteacher, Mr Helm, you will find a range of information about the school and how to apply.  Usually, Mr Helm would give tours of the school to prospective parents/carers but this is not possible in the current circumstances and so we have filmed a 15 minute presentation (please click on the link below). Mr Helm will be available via a phone call on Wednesday 11th November 10.30am-11.30am and Wednesday 18th November 9.30am-11.30am should anyone have any specific queries.  If you have any questions about the admissions process or starting school please contact Mrs Kelly Price our Family Worker (kprice@longfleet.poole.sch.uk)

  • Remembrance Day

    Wed 11 Nov 2020
We marked Remembrance Day at the school in a variety of ways.  Our Worships this week have focussed on different elements of Remembrance Week including finding out about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Westminster Abbey.  We held a two minute silence at 11am on the 11th November and our Captains' Council decorated some pebbles with poppy designs and placed them close to the memorial in Poole Park.  Sebrina from Year Six led the Captains in prayer as we remembered the former pupils of Longfleet (CE) Primary School that died or were injured whilst at war.

  • Year 4's First Brass Lesson

Tue 29 Sep 2020 Miss Wright
Year 4 had a great morning meeting Mr Penfold and learning about trumpets, cornets and trombones. They chose their own instruments and labelled them up ready to go home. Their first note was quite a sound to behold and there are some definite young stars in the making in Otter, Vole and Hedgehog Class. We found it a little bit strange putting face masks on trumpets but are happy that there are things we can do to make playing together both possible and safe!
  • Peripatetic Music Lessons Under Way This Week

Fri 25 Sep 2020 Miss Wright
The keyboard and violin pupils were the first to return to their lessons this week. Guitars, clarinets, brass and drums all re-start next week. Cellos, pianos and flutes will be starting slightly later in the term. If your child does small group music lessons, please make sure you have read the letter that was emailed out to all KS2 families last week. There is a copy of the letter on the music page of the school website (under the learning tab) and you can also find all the timetables here. Please take note that a few things have changed due to the precautions we are taking to keep everybody safe. There have been lots of changes to days, times and locations so please do have a look at the timetable with your child so that they feel prepared. It's super important that children remember their instruments and music and remember to go to their lessons this term. Unfortunately they won't be able to share equipment or go to fetch children from other classes if they forget to come. We're looking forward to hearing lots of music around the school again!
  • Year 4 Brass Lessons start next week!

Fri 25 Sep 2020 Miss Wright

This term all the pupils in Year 4 will learn how to play a Trumpet, Cornet or Trombone during their class music lessons. Miss Wright collected all the instruments today and they are waiting for you here in the music room! For ten weeks our brass specialist, Kevin Penfold, will attend Longfleet on Tuesday mornings to deliver Year 4 class music sessions which will be supported by Miss Wright. Next week the children will learn about the three different instruments and will be allocated their own instrument to take home and practise on! We have thought carefully about how to keep everybody safe and follow government guidance during these lessons and there is more information in the letter that was emailed to Year 4 parents and carers today. There is also a copy of the letter on the music page of the school website (under the learning tab). An important thing to take note of Year 4 is the need to bring in a facemask. This is for your instrument to wear - not you!

  • Y6 Leavers' Day

    Fri 17 Jul 2020

Congratulations to our Y6 pupils who celebrated their last day at Longfleet in style.  They took part in an act of worship led by Emily from SML, had some water pistol fun, ate cakes, showed off their 'wheels' skills, enjoyed a lunch (provided by the Friends of Longfleet), watched an epic Leavers' Video and were cheered out of the school by all of the staff and their families.

Thank you and good luck.  We will miss you all.
