Longfleet hosted their second SEND Panathlon, with children from Baden Powell, Canford Heath Junior, Oakdale and Haymoor Junior joining us for a range of fun-based activities. Six Longfleet Sports Ambassadors were on hand to help out with scoring across the events and Chris Sugden (of Panathlon Challenge) was the brains behind the events on show. Each child came away with a medal, a certificate and their Panathlon t-shirt. Overall, a hugely successful, fun and engaging morning's work!
Our Longfleet Lionesses have remained unbeaten in the group stages of the first "mini-league" after a hard-fought victory over Ocean. Their results thus far are as follows:
Baden Powell 1 - 5 Longfleet Lionesses
Manorside 0 - 10 Longfleet Lionesses
Ocean Academy 1 - 3 Longfleet Lionesses
These results mean that we will go through to the next round as group winners. Well done to the following children in the squad who have worked so hard and improved immeasurably over our first three games:
Y6: Olivia, Jasmine, Savannah
Y5: Charlotte, Paige, Poppy, Alicia
Y4: Laila, Artha
Longfleet Lionesses first fixture for almost two years resulted in a victory against Baden Powell and St Peter's in the first group game of the Poole League. A quick start by Longfleet made it 1-0 (Poppy), but an outstanding solo effort by BPSP's striker brought it back to 1-1. Battling hard in defence and breaking quickly in attack, Longfleet soon controlled the game and another goal by Poppy, a sharp finish by Olivia and a breakaway goal by Year 4's Laila made it 4-1. An own goal at the end wrapped up the victory.
Upcoming Matches:
Ocean (Home)
Manorside (Away)
Here are a few pictures of our day so far. All is well and we are having a wonderful time.
Sports Day was set over two days this year (due to the weather), with Reception, Year 1 and Years 4-6 completing their track and field events on Friday 25th June, with Year 2/3 completing theirs on Tuesday 6th July. New records were set and the children had an amazing time over both days. The results were as follows:

Fire House: 501 points
Water House: 463 points
Earth House: 437 points

To mark the end of their 10 week First Access Violin tuition programme, Year 5 have recorded four pieces for you to enjoy. Click on the link above to watch the videos. Thank you to Soundstorm for this fantastic opportunity and to the talented tutors, Jane Brewster and Dorota Stenwak. Finally and most importantly, a huge 'Well done!' to all of our Year 5 pupils. They exceeded our expectations! If you have a child in Year 5 who wants to continue to learn the violin, look out for a letter that is coming home today giving you information about progression lessons for some of our pupils next year.

All of our Year 5 pupils have been learning to play the violin this term and after just a few lessons they are already playing pizzicato (with fingers) and arco (with bows). They have learnt a number of pieces and are looking forward to recording a special performance to share with their parents in July. The lessons are taught through a combination of specialist input from Dorota Stenwak (our school violin teacher), video lessons from Jane Brewster (whole class violin specialist) and support from Miss Wright (who is learning as she goes and very nearly managing to keep up with the children). The Year 5 pupils all have their own violin which they are able to take home to practice on each week. Thank you to Soundstorm Music Education Agency for this great opportunity.
On Friday 21st May 2021 the Longfleet School Orchestra gave their first performance since March 2020. Following more than a year of social distancing, lockdowns, cancelled rehearsals and then year group rehearsals we are finally able to play all together again, with some measures in place to keep everyone safe. It was lovely to be able to invite a very small group of teachers to come and listen to us play and we recorded the performances to share with everyone else . Below the recordings on the orchestra page you can see pictures of all our orchestra members. We are very proud of them for their aspiration, resilience, hard work and talent.
