  • Reception visit to Oakdale Library

    Thu 23 Jan 2020
Ladybirds and Butterflies managed to brave the weather to visit Oakdale Library recently.  Unfortunately, Bumblebees were not so lucky and their trip has been postponed; fingers crossed the weather will stay dry next time.  The children enjoyed a story and songs, then explored the books.  They each borrowed a book to take back to school.  Why not take a look at the fun activities on offer at the library over the half term holidays?
  • Year 5 and 6 Boys' Netball

    Mon 13 Jan 2020

On Friday, the boys from Netball Club took part in two friendly matches against St Joseph's School.

One of the teams won 7-2 and the other narrowly lost 4-5. Both games were excellent to watch and the boys showed brilliant sportsmanship throughout.

The games were such a success that we are organising an away fixture for rematches!

  • Reception Learnersaur Day

    Wed 08 Jan 2020
After following the dinosaur footprints to their classroom, the reception children had a day learning about their dinosaur themed learning skills. They made dens, created marble runs out of junk, made a protector for a dinosaur egg and explored colour using paints. These "Learnersaurs" will be used throughout their time in reception and will go home every Friday with chosen children, where they can show off their new learning skills at home!

  • Year 5/6 Multi-skills

    Wed 11 Dec 2019

Longfleet took ten children to Parkstone Grammar School to participate in a multi-skills festival. This included activities such as "skittles", tennis ball balance, cross the river and speed bounce. Each of the events was introduced by a Parkstone Grammar Sports Leader, who energised and enthused the children to do their best. Resilience was on show throughout and our children look forward to their next event representing Longfleet.

  • Year 3 and 4 Netball

    Mon 09 Dec 2019
Our Year 3 and 4 Netball Team have had two fantastic matches recently. One against Ocean Academy and the other against Lytchett Matravers. Both matches were played with great skill and determination from all of our girls and they only very narrowly missed out on draws. We are so proud of the team spirit and great play that we saw and we can't wait for the next match!

  • Year 5 Viking and Anglo-Saxon Day

    Wed 27 Nov 2019

On Monday 25th November, Year 5 had a lot of fun learning about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. We learnt about battles, games, rituals and how they dressed.

    The activities included:

    • Battle re-enactments
    • Plays (about Viking Gods)
    • Trying on armour and holding different weapons
    • Learning about Viking and Anglo-Saxon villages
    • Exploring Viking and Anglo-Saxon artefacts

We asked for comments from the Eagles…here are what some of them said:

Neve, “It felt like we were really them.”

Mia, “I enjoyed recreating the characters.”

    Ethan, “I enjoyed the acting.”

    James, “I loved the stories.”

  • Year 3/4 Netball at Hamworthy

    Thu 21 Nov 2019

Well done to our Year 3 and 4 netball teams who had their first matches against Hamworthy Junior School this week. Despite both teams narrowly losing, they looked very stylish and displayed some excellent footwork and defence skills.

As ever, all the children represented our school with excellent sportsmanship and are now even more motivated to improve for next time.
