  • Year 5/6 Multiskills

    Thu 25 Apr 2019
Eleven of Longfleet's Year 5 and 6 children travelled to Carter Community School to participate in fun activities across a wide range of sports. The activities were purely for enjoyment and interaction, no points were scored, and the Carter Sports Leaders engaged and pushed our children into striving for their best each time. Our favourite activities were the dance, the cricket "sprint" and the diving catches.

  • Can-Do Swimming Gala

    Thu 04 Apr 2019

Longfleet took the long journey to St Mary’s School, Shaftesbury, to take part in a swimming competition that showcased every child’s amazing resilience and perseverance. We were joined by other local schools, as well as special schools across Dorset, with all the children enthusiastic for what was, for some, their first taste of a swimming gala.

The children from Longfleet competed in the following races:

    Jack M

    Aided Width

    Jack W

    10m Front and 10m Back

    Joseph C

    10m Front and 10m Backstroke

    Silver and Bronze Medal

    Charlie F

    10m Front 10m Backstroke

The children supported each other throughout the competition, cheering all the competitors and showing real joy at each other’s performances. A huge thank you to all the Longfleet staff who came to this event and work with the children, and to Mrs Kent, who takes the children swimming every Friday morning and works tirelessly on improving their technique and resilience in the water.

Look out for more “Can-Do” events in the Summer Term!

  • Day at New Barn

    Wed 03 Apr 2019

Hello again from New Barn. We have had a fun day of activites and are now ‘chilling’ in our rooms before our BBQ. The day has been dry, but we might have to have an indoor BBQ, we are waiting to see what happens. The Celtic day has been full. We have made Celtic pots, chalk structures, made butter, ground wheat into flour and heard some Celtic / Roman historical stories. The Survival day, has involved building shelters, lighting fires and making arrows.

  • Year 3/4 Netball Festival

    Wed 03 Apr 2019

On Tuesday, two teams of our Year 3 and 4 netballers attended the annual Netball Festival held at Oakdale Junior School. Our teams competed against a number of other schools in Poole and were a credit to Team Longfleet. Team A absolutely dominated their group, winning all three of their matches (5-0, 4-0 and 4-0). Team B also kept a clean sheet and came in as joint winners of their group. All the children showcased some incredibly impressive netball skills and sportsmanship and did themselves and the adults supporting them proud.

  • New Barn

    Wed 03 Apr 2019
We have arrived and all is going well. At the moment we are enjoying the sun. One group is learning how to survive, while the others are finding out about Celts. Everyone is well.
  • Joe Wicks HIIT Session

    Tue 02 Apr 2019
Longfleet joined over 700 other children from the local area for a HIIT session with famous author and fitness "guru" Joe Wicks at Springdale Infant School. The children loved the different exercises and seeing Joe Wicks live, a couple of them may have even squeezed onto the BBC South Today footage later that evening. A huge thank you to Springdale Infant School for inviting us, the children (and adults!) had a fantastic time and for many it really was a "once in a lifetime" opportunity.
