  • Summer Fair Fun

    Mon 19 Jun 2017
Last Friday the Friends of Longfleet organised a delightful Summer Fair.  In beautiful sunshine there was a tremendous community feel as the children and parents enjoyed numerous activities and a various musical performances.  A huge thank you to all of the 'Friends' and staff who gave up their time to ensure the event was a success.
  • Athletics Success

    Thu 08 Jun 2017
A number of Longfleet pupils have been busy competing in athletics events this week.  Firstly, we had a several children take part in the Poole Festival of Running held in Poole Park.  Well done to all the children who completed the mile long course and we were delighted to hear that we were awarded the 2nd best overall team in the U7 Boys event.  We also took a team of KS2 pupils to the Poole Schools' Athletics Championships.  There were a variety of events including sprints, long distance, hurdles, long jump and throwing.  The children showed great determination and competitiveness throughout the afternoon.
  • Family Week 2017: Our Community

    Wed 07 Jun 2017

This year’s Family Week was one of our best yet! It focused on our role as part of a community, ranging from our local area to globally. We were able to share quality time and wonderful experiences with family and friends. At the beginning of Family Week, a selection of children from across the school walked to Poole Park to tick off activities included in  the National Trust’s ‘50 Things to do Before you’re 11 ¾’, including climbing trees and making Daisy chains. Lower and upper school classes ‘buddied up’ to share in fun activities such as arts, crafts and athletics.

The Sports Ambassadors took part in an exciting opportunity to collaborate with children from Victoria School. They were able to practise their leadership skills and learn how to play new sports such as Boccia and Floor Cricket.

We were grateful to have the help of family members and children with clearing the pond and garden area. The weather was great and everyone worked really hard! This is an ongoing project and we would really appreciate any further support.

Family Week finished with an amazing afternoon starting with the family picnic which, once again, had an enormous turn out. The children were proud to show off their spectacular trolleys during the parade!  After the picnic, many family members stayed to take part in the den building afternoon. There were some very impressive structures created, which ended up providing excellent shelter from what turned out to be a sweltering day. If that wasn’t enough, there was a fantastic atmosphere for Family Fit Friday, with adults and children joining together to have an afternoon of fun and fitness.

Thank you to everybody involved in Family Week. The participation from parents, carers and families has been absolutely overwhelming and we look forward to next year!

The Sports Ambassadors were delighted to collaborate with Victoria School again this week and, this time, the students from Victoria visited us at Longfleet School.  Our Sports Ambassadors continued to practise their leaderships skills, with the support of the students from Victoria, and invited 18 children from across our school to take part in a number of new sporting activities. Thu 25 May 2017
