  • Let's go fly a kite..

    Thu 14 Feb 2019
Year One had a wonderful afternoon making kites as their 'Whatever the Weather' topic finale. We had a fantastic amount of parents and grandparents to help with the children's creations.  We were very appreciative of such a great turn out.  The children's kites were truly fantastic and were well tried on the playground!   Thank you to all!

  • Poole SCITT PE Trainee Visit

    Thu 14 Feb 2019
On Wednesday 13th, 30 trainee teachers from Poole SCITT came to Longfleet as part of their year-long teacher training course. As well as 10 week placements in various schools in the local area, they are taught the various subjects by lead teachers. Their PE course is taught by Mr Cole and involves them learning to plan a variety of different activities and games to take with them to their next placements.  Our Year 5 children also had the privilege to be taught by the trainees, who planned and delivered small group sessions. The children loved it and were brilliantly behaved.

    Wed 30 Jan 2019
Reception enjoyed their first school trip this week, paying a visit to Oakdale Library.  The children enjoyed sharing stories, singing songs and looking at the books.  They each borrowed a book to enjoy with friends back in school.  Well done to all the children for their super behaviour and resilience during the walk back to school!  Thank you to our volunteers who helped on the visit too.
  • GOOD NEWS!

    Tue 29 Jan 2019

We are the proud recipients of the Anti-Bullying Alliance Award - Silver status!

In February last year, we embarked on an anti-bullying programme, funded by the Department of Education and delivered by the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

Enrolling on this programme enabled us to audit and regularly review our current anti-bullying practice and create an anti-bullying action plan that was specifically tailored to our needs. We have conducted a pupil wellbeing questionnaire twice over the last year which has informed strategies and formed the basis of our action plan. We have a dedicated team of Keep Safe Councillors and the Keep Safe Den on the playground, alongside regularly attending training sessions and forums.

The Safeguarding team and the Keep Safe Council have worked incredibly hard to implement anti-bullying practice changes throughout school and will continue to support every pupil and their wellbeing.

Should you have any questions or require further information please contact Clare Kent (Anti-bullying Champion) via the school office. Alternatively, please visit:

  • Year 4 Clay Workshops with the Clay Shack

    Fri 25 Jan 2019
Year 4 have been very lucky over the last two weeks as they have been creating Ancient Greek amphoras (containers). They have been taught by the fantastic Clay Shack staff how to correctly work with red terracotta clay and all the children replicated the techniques employed by the Ancient Greeks thousands of years ago. Year 4 will now wait a few weeks for their creations to be dried and kilned and then they will be taken home.
  • Year 5/6 Lionesses Impress Again

    Fri 25 Jan 2019

AFC Bournemouth created and delivered an impressive Girls' Tournament, with 16 schools across the county participating, with the school that topped their group of four going through to the Semi-Finals. Sadly, a 3-0 loss against a very strong St Katherine's side scuppered our chances in the first game. However, the Lionesses showed their "bouncebackability" by winning the next game 3-0, an assured performance, with some excellent football being played and also some well taken goals. Abhiya's was the highlight, she managed to squeeze a shot in from a seemingly impossible angle to seal victory. The final game was a tense 2-2 draw, with the Lionesses scoring in the last seconds with a brilliant assist from Abigail and a calm finish from Daisy.

Look out for more friendlies (and perhaps even another tournament) soon!

  • Year 3/4 Football at Hamworthy Park

    Wed 23 Jan 2019

On Thursday 17th, Longfleet were invited to Hamworthy Park Junior School to play in matches against their ABC and D teams. This once again allowed all of the children who have showed commitment to the Year 3/4 Football Club (held on a Wednesday after school) to represent Longfleet “Cubs”. The A and B teams showed excellent skill and attacking instincts in their matches, with a volleyed goal and a cheeky “chip” over the goalkeeper being highlights. The C and D teams showed commitment and a desire to keep going, with Denny and Gethin in particular showing good teamwork and motivation to others.

A special mention to William and George in the A team, who between them scored 13 goals in their 3 games!
